Colorado Council for Economic Education: Signature Event Enhancement
![]() |
The Opportunity:
The Colorado Council for Economic Education (CCEE) approached Galloway Group in April 2009 for assistance in developing an enhanced concept for the organization’s signature fundraising event(s). Galloway Group was charged with developing an enhanced version of the organization’s annual fundraising dinner as well as an additional event concept that would address “friendraising” objectives, with both concepts supporting an end goal of enhancing CCEE’s presence in the Denver and surrounding communities.
The Approach:
To accomplish the primary objectives, Galloway Group conducted a top-level assessment of CCEE’s current organizational situation, past fundraising events and existing plans for future events. Galloway Group then facilitated a brainstorming session with key CCEE staff and volunteer leadership to better understand the overall objectives for upcoming fundraising events benefiting CCEE. Other objectives addressed in the session included: an overall vision and key concepts for the 2009 Annual Lecture Series and the Annual CCEE Fundraising Dinner; fundraising goals for 2009 – 2010; “friendraising” goals for 2009 – 2010.
The Results:
Following the brainstorming session, Galloway Group presented CCEE with a summarized report of all findings determined during the assessment phase and the brainstorming session. Also included in this report were fully developed concepts for two separate fundraising events: 1) an enhanced version of the Annual CCEE Fundraising Dinner that included new elements to support growth of the event; and 2) a new event that addressed “friendraising” objectives and engaged the local media in innovative ways – coined "Inside Studio B."
Currently, CCEE is working to implement the enhanced Fundraising Dinner elements as proposed in the Galloway Group report, including the addition of an honoree and strategies for growing the attendee list for the 2010 event. In addition, CCEE is exploring opportunities with a local television outlet to implement the Inside Studio B concept and cultivate a working relationship with the outlets on-air talent. Galloway Group’s expertise in developing unique concepts for fundraising and “friendraising” opportunities, as well as our experience in working with the local media on various public relations efforts, supported the success of this project.
“Galloway Group led us in a dynamic focus group about raising money to expand economic literacy in Colorado’s K-12 schools. Their objectivity and creativity gave us several new good ideas – things we hadn’t thought of or considered. The Galloway Group’s work was very useful to us.” — Christine Burtt, Chairman, Events Committee, Colorado Council for Economic Education
